teaser tuesday (18)

Tuesday, November 3, 2009 |
It's Teaser Tuesday, a bookish blog meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Here's how it works:

Grab your current read and let it fall open to a random page. Post two (or more) sentences from that page, along with the title and author. Don’t give anything vital away!

“You grow up saying knowing things the way your mother does. It doesn’t matter what you know or don’t know. Or if your mother spends her whole existence telling lies and you’re just reproducing them.

Always lend ineffable confidence to the gladiator, Bylaw 29.”

-p. 26 of Lise Haines' Girl in the Arena

interesting teaser--I'm not sure what the book is about but I do remember the day I heard my mother's words come out of my mouth when I was scolding one of my children *hehe*

If you want to wander down my road I’m home.

Wow, this is an example of a REALLY good teaser. I definitely feel like a lot of people in the world mimmick their parents unwittingly end up regurgitating the lies their parents once told. Very interesting!

Here's my teaser, from Hilary Mantel's WOLF HALL.
