mister monday giveaway

Monday, March 1, 2010 |

I joined the Garth Nix mini-challenge hosted by Andrea of The Little Bookworm back in autumn of 2009. I’ve been anticipating Lord Sunday, the final entry in the seven book ‘Keys to the Kingdom’ series, for a couple of years now. The challenge seemed like the perfect way to get excited for a new installment. But I’ve been lazy, and the reading hasn’t happened. So! To jumpstart a little Garth Nix love, I’m going to give away three copies of the first book in the series – Mister Monday.

Seven days. Seven keys. Seven virtues. Seven sins. One mysterious house is the doorway to a very mysterious world -- where one boy is about to venture and unlock a number of fantastical secrets.

This series is full of action and adventure and mystery, and one of my favorite literary characters of all time, Suzy Turquoise Blue, makes her entrance in the pages of Mister Monday.

If you’d like to win one of three paperback copies, just follow the directions below!

I never thought about it, but I can call Holmes solve the riddle! I like the characters that fight for their ideals, like V in "V for Vendetta" for example.
thanks for make it international :)

yikes, that's actually a hard question... from which book?
hehe--well, i've always liked Samwise Gamgee from LOTR, but i'd have to mention Lizzie from P&P and oh gosh... too many to list.

Does Garth Nix have a dystopian novel too? I thought he did, but I'm not sure.

Asking me to choose is so cruel because the more books I read, the more my choice changes.

For now I'm going to have to go with Anne Elliot from "Persuasion". When I first read the book I wondered how she could possibly develop as a character because she was so introverted, so shy. But as time went on she revealed this inner strength, trying her best to appease others, even though it's what caused her heartbreak, appeasing Lady Russell by giving up Wentworth.

The fact that she got her much-deserved ending is the icing on the cake.

Do graphic novels count? If so, I love Neil Gaiman's The Sandman because he is so emo and is a great fodder for angst :D

I've been wanting to start this series! Awesome contest.

My fav? Ok I love Vlad Tod in the Chronicles of Vlad series. I'm sure there's others, but right now he is my favorite. I've watched him grow up in the series so I have a soft spot for him.

This sounds like a GREAT book! I love that cover too!

Who is my favorite literary character? I think I am going to have to go with Jimmy the Hand from Raymond Fiest's books. This character really grows through the books. Even though his is a thief, very talented one at that, boy. Who helps the kings brother (who is valued as much as the king himself) and earns his way into their protection and family. Then works his way to become the advisor to the King (the future children become). He is an amazing character - good at what he does and very great personality.

Oooh, great giveaway! I would love to read this book. My favourite literary character - tough question! I have so many. I think I'll have to choose one from my great list of Harry Potter favourites - Neville Longbottom.

I love the transformation he made from bumbling, forgetful, clumsy boy to a badass wizard, complete with battle scars and a seriously cool tale of "I cut the head off the snake' to recount to his grandkids ;)

Thanks!

Another book I was just perusing at the library! Picking a favorite character is not an easy task. At the moment my favorite is Auralia from the Auralia Thread series by Jeffrey Overstreet.

Thanks for the contest. :D

My favourite literary character, and the character I would choose to be, is Thursday Next from Jasper Fforde's series.

She is not particularly gorgeous or super-strong but she is a nice person and good at what she does.
