Top Ten Series I Haven't Finished

1. Paranormalcy by Kiersten WhiteI read the first book in the series, but lost momentum (and interest) after that.  I doubt I’ll go back to it.

2. The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place by Maryrose WoodThe Mysterious Howling (the first book in this series) was hilarious and mysterious and clever.  In other words?  Fun.  I need to go back and read books #2 and #3 – will do as soon as I have a moment to think.

3. Delirium by Lauren OliverI was completely unimpressed by Oliver’s YA dystopian novel.  You couldn’t pay me to read the rest.  Harsh?  Yes.  True?  Also yes.

4. The Wolves of Mercy Falls by Maggie Stiefvater – I didn’t have feelings either way about Shiver, and that was the trouble.  I didn’t have feelings.  Doesn’t inspire one to pick up the rest of the books, that’s for sure.

5. Curse Workers by Holly Black – This is a case of wanting to savor the final book in a series… and waiting a smidge too long.  Now I’m going to put it off until I can reread the first couple of books.  Which will happen… soon?

6. Théâtre Illuminata by Lisa Mantchev – I honestly don’t know what my problem is with this series.  I adored Eyes Like Stars, and I have the second sitting on my shelf.  I need a weekend of fairy magic and sweets!

7. Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis – Oh, this series takes me back!  To my freshman year of college.  I went through the first two books in the series, but never finished That Hideous Strength.  I think it’s going to remain That Hideously Unfinished Series.

8. The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie RyanI did not like the first book in this series.  Not.  At.  All.  The heroine was too stupid to live, really.  The only thing that makes me feel marginally better about this series is that Ryan wrote a great short story that was included in the Zombies vs. Unicorns anthology.

9. The Demon’s Lexicon by Sarah Rees Brennan – Oh, Sarah Rees Brennan.  You wrote a bizarre and awesome and hilarious debut.  I NEED to read the rest of the series.  Like, soon?!  Soon.  It’ll happen.  Oh, there’s the 2nd in the series on my shelf!  Perfect.

10. Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness – I was totally awed by Ness and his talent and the way The Knife of Never Letting Go skinned my heart and made me love it.  But… I’ll admit that I’m a little afraid to read the rest of the series.  It might just kill me.  *gulp*

So, tell me: what are some series you haven’t finished?

I agree with you about The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I could barely finish the first book. I did read the whole Chaos Walking series, however. It keeps having twists that I didn't expect.

Bahahahaha yay finally someone else who hated The Forest of Hands and Teeth!! I thought I was the only one.
As for Paranormalcy, I ADORED the first book but the last two were disappointing. I also have a few of your other picks on my list as well.

It breaks my heart that you didn't like Delirium. It's one of my favorite books...ever. :) I haven't read the last book in the Paranormalcy series yet. I need to change that.

The only of these that I've attempted was Delirium. I didn't love love love it, but it was okay. I might - or might not - read Pandemonium.

I added Wolves of Mercy Falls to my list, I liked it but haven't gotten past book one yet!

I still have the last book in the Chaos Walking Trilogy to read! I'm taking my time with that series. It's too intense for a quick read!

The wolves of Mercy Fall is on my list. I LOVED Carrie Ryan forest of hands and teeth series <3

Paranormalcy was a fluffy read, I quite liked them.

The mysterious howling sounds good, I might check it out.

Delirium was okay; it didn't live up to my high expectations.

I really want to read Eyes like stars.

So, conclusion; great list!

My top 10 Tuesday.

I really need to finish The Curse Workers. But like you it's been to long, I need to start again. My Top Ten Tuesday

I loved the Forest of Hands and Teeth based purely on world building and atmosphere. The MC was so boring. I also found Shiver incredibly bland.

I loved book 1 of the The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place. The second was not quite as interesting, but still an ok read.

I'm surprised and disappointed to see you didn't like Delirium! It seems like everyone has loved that book and it's my next "What's Next" pick from readers. Now I'm nervous to read it lol. great list!

I LOVED the Space Trilogy. I just feel bad that I went on an unplanned (and long) blogging hiatus before I posted my review for That Hideous Strength. I'm tempted to reread it so that I can have all three books reviewed. I'm mildly OCD like that.

YES! I'm with you on #2.
I need to get on that.

OMG you have to finish the Chaos Walking series! I read all 3 this summer and LOVED them so hard. I definitely know why you are nervous, I was too, but the books get better and better after the first, in my opinion. :)

AH! You didn't like Delirium? It's one of my favorites! haha. But I guess I can see why some might not enjoy it.

Great list.

The Chaos Walking series is totally worth the effort. The second and third books are just as good as the first, which is quite a rarity.

I started the Gone series by Michael Grant, but haven't made time for the rest of it. There are so many books now in the series, that I'm starting to wonder if it's being drawn out, and if it will be worth all of that reading, because the books are huge.

Oh my goodness, READ PTD. It is so, so, so good. You'll love it.

I read Shiver and like you didn't have very many feelings on it one way or the other. I saw that the audiobook version of it was five dollars on amazon awhile back, so I'm thinking I *might* listen to it eventually. Maybe. I know I loved Stiefvater's Books of Faerie a whole lot more.

I was completely unimpressed with Shiver when I first read it. It did nothing for me. But Linger was MUCH better. I would suggest you try that one and decide if you want to read Forever. Linger introduces us to some pretty interesting characters- That is all I am going to say.

Great list.

Curse Workers and The Demon's Lexicon series both end so well. You'll enjoy 'em when you get to 'em.

I need to finish Theatre Illuminata myself. Loved Eyes Like Stars, haven't read the rest.

I'm scrolling through my reader and can't believe how many Top 10's have Black Heart on them ! I devoured the audiobook within days of the release. It really is a great ending, I loved it! Lila really comes full circle

I loath That Hideous Strength. You aren't missing anything, as far as I'm concerned, by not having read it.

But The Demon's Lexicon series I love with a great love!

I enjoyed That Hideous Strength the most in that series. It was longer than the first two, but well worth the read. My top ten post:

It's like your comments on THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH came straight out of my head.

I also need to finish the Demon's Lexicon series. I loveloveloved the second book, but somehow ended up returning the third to the library unread. I should borrow it again.

Galen Beckett's Ivy Lockwell series also languishes unfinished upon my shelves. I reread the first two books earlier this year during a period where I just couldn't read quickly. This hurt my enjoyment so much that I decided to wait and read the third book when I was in a better mood. 2012 is almost over, and I'm still waiting. Sigh.

I had no feelings for Shiver either, except maybe slight boredom...no plans to finish that one for me either.

I'm not familiar with any of the series you've listed and that makes me happy! New series to discover :D I think I'll have to dive into Patrick Ness' and C.S. Lewis' books...

My must-finish-one-day series are: Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice and Fire (made into the HBO series Game of Thrones), Stephen King's The Dark Tower and Chris Wooding's Braided Path.
